Former general practitioner and writer Paul van Dijk has recorded the history of half a century of Zaltbommel on the basis of fifty conversations. Striking residents of Zaltbommel talk about the recent history of the church, art, education, the police, the housing market, politics, the multicultural society, and about the love for their city.

Zaltbommel groeide in de afgelopen vijftig jaar uit van een slaperig stadje aan de Waal tot een moderne stad in het midden van het land. In dit boek vertellen bekende Bommelaars hoe het leven is veranderd in Zaltbommel.
Voormalig huisarts en schrijver Paul van Dijk heeft de geschiedenis van een halve eeuw Zaltbommel opgetekend aan de hand van vijftig gesprekken. Markante bewoners van Zaltbommel vertellen over de recente geschiedenis van de kerk, de kunst, het onderwijs, de politie, de huizenmarkt, de politiek, de multiculturele samenleving, en over de liefde voor hun stad.
