Photography and music often intersect in special ways, but this time I found myself in a scene I won’t forget anytime soon. I got a call from MINKO. I’ve been photographing the band for quite some time, but this time they came up with a bizarre yet brilliant idea: 'Let’s go to a Chinese restaurant!' Not just any place, but the most beautiful one in the Netherlands: Restaurant Palace in Breda. We didn’t just enjoy an incredible meal there - we also had a unique photoshoot that resulted in a fantastic album: MINKO.
Call it groove, style, or sex, MINKO has it all. Just listen to their self-titled debut album. Or rather, 'untitled'… except the name MINKO says it all. The joy of playing and sheer musicianship burst out of every note: pure Rock ’n’ Roll, roots, and blues.
The album was recorded and produced by Pablo van de Poel (DeWolff) and instantly shows why artists like Tim Knol and Danny Vera are already following the band with great interest. Simply put: MINKO is just outstanding.
The band consists of brothers Dusty and Darryl Ciggaar (Dry Riverbed Trio, Ian Siegal Band), Nick Croes (Typhoon, Jett Rebel), and Dawn Brother Tammo Deuling. Together they prove that music, food, and fun are a golden combination.
