Design | New photo book pays tribute to Rob de Nijs: An Intimate portrait by Govert de Roos
Renowned photographer Govert de Roos and I have collaborated on a moving and beautifully curated photo book celebrating the life and legacy of Dutch music icon Rob de Nijs. Following Rob’s recent passing, Govert and Rob’s wife, Jet de Nijs, felt a profound need to honor his memory through photography - images that capture not just the performer, but the man behind the music.
The result is a heartfelt and intimate publication, created in close collaboration with Jet and with Rob’s own input before his passing. Each photograph was handpicked by Govert, Jet, and Rob himself, offering a deeply personal look into Rob and Jet’s shared life and the many facets of Rob’s remarkable career.
The photo book will be presented in conjunction with a special exhibition on May 20 at the Clayton Hotel Amsterdam American, featuring a collection of Govert de Roos’s most iconic images of Rob de Nijs, taken over several decades.
This book is more than a tribute - it’s a visual story of love, artistry, and lasting legacy.
